WILBUR RAYMOND DEWEY

SOUTHWICK – Wilbur Raymond Dewey, 93, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Regal Care of Holyoke. 

Wilbur was born on February 23, 1930, in Simsbury, CT to Joseph Raymond Dewey and Florence Belle (Goddard) Dewey.

 Wilbur was a graduate of Simsbury High School. In his younger years, Wilbur enjoyed swimming and roller skating.

Wilbur proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korea Conflict.

He had worked for 45+ years with Culbro Tobacco as a Tobacco Farmer.  Fishing and bike riding took up much of Wilbur’s free time. 

Wilbur is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Florence Dewey, his brothers Chester and Joseph Dewey, and his sisters Alice Sargent, Isabelle Dudoich, and Gladys Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lucille M. (LaBrecque) Dewey of Southwick, MA, his daughters Luanne Beman and her husband Steve of Southwick, MA, and Cheryl Camire and her husband Bruce of Springfield, MA, his brothers Stewart Dewey and his wife Ruth of East Granby, CT, and Earl Dewey of FL, his grandchildren: Kyle, Kayla, and Chloe Beman, Ashley Remmers and her husband Brian, and Joshua and Tyler Blair, along with many other family members and friends.

Family and friends will gather for a period of visitation at Avalon Life Celebration Center, from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM on Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024.  A prayer service will be held at 11:30 AM followed by burial with full military honors in New Southwick Cemetery.
