Ronald D. Blodgett

HOLYOKE-Ronald Deane Blodgett died at the age of 70 on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the Loomis House in Holyoke, MA after a 15-month battle with brain cancer.  He passed away peacefully with his loving daughter Melissa at his side.

Ron was born in Springfield, MA on August 15, 1946, the second child of Alden and Vivian (Cravens) Blodgett. He is survived by his older brother Alden "Jay" Blodgett and his wife Chris, younger brother Gary Blodgett and his wife Marilee, younger sister Carolyn (Blodgett) Gauthier and her husband Mark; son Bronson Blodgett, his wife Elise and their daughter Ella; daughter Melissa (Blodgett) Vanek and her husband Jesse; and a wide circle of loving family and friends.

Ron was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a longtime employee of ABB/Combustion Engineering. He enjoyed fly fishing, gardening, golfing, riding his motorcycle, playing cards, and genuinely enjoying those around him, as no one remained a stranger in Ron's presence for long.

Ron regularly involved himself and his family in a number of charitable and humanitarian causes, including Habitat for Humanity, Fresh Air Fund, World Vision, and others. As such, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a local chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
