SOUTHWICK-Robert Bennett Saunders 56, of Southwick, Massachusetts, passed away on February 28, 2018, after health issues for several years.
Robert was born in Westfield, Ma. on December 19, 1961, and lived his life off Berkshire Avenue, on Lake Congamond. The lake was a great place of recreation, growth and fun.
His parents, Emerson B. Saunders and Sarah Bird Saunders preceded Robert in death, as well as his two brothers Emerson B. Saunders, Jr. and Ronald C. Saunders. Robert is survived by his fiancé Julie A. Stangle; his brother Bruce W. Saunders, of Callao, VA, and two sisters, Judy Reese Ronk of Eau Claire, MI and Debra Saunders Booze of Hague, VA, along with many nieces and nephews and the rest of his family and friends.
Robert, better known as Bob, graduated from Southwick High School class of 1979 and had worked as a foreman at Meadowbrook Lumber Company. Bob actively pursued his love of “Harley Davidson” riding. He enjoyed boating & fishing and volunteered time to the Congamond Lake Association. Always, loving dogs, “Pinchy” his Doberman Pinscher was a source of comfort and inspiration.
The family would like to thank the Baystate Hospice and the local cancer services. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to UMass Memorial Medical Transplant Patient Fund, ATTN: Transplant Program, Room HA-200L1, 55 Lake Avenue North, Worcester, Ma. 01655. Visitation with the family will be held from 10:00 –11:00 AM on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Christ Church United Methodist, 222 College Highway, Southwick MA, Followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. Private inurnment will follow.
