MARY ARENDT Obituary

Although she is no longer with us, the world is a better place because she was in it. Mary Elizabeth Arendt, peacefully passed away on July 3, 2024. She was born in Hartford, CT and spent all of her life between Connecticut and Massachusetts. Mary always put others first, so it is no surprise that as an adult she went on to become a Registered Nurse, counselor and teacher of grades K-12 throughout her tenure. She applied her skills as a teacher to almost everything she did and always wanted to lend a helping hand. Her incredible giving nature also led to her favorite role in life, the accomplishment that she was the most proud of, being a mother and grandmother.

Mary was never taken by the material things in life. She loved people (especially kids), animals, including her beloved dog, Sammy who she told stories about even into her final days. She enjoyed life through experiences, not things. She could often be found writing or immersed in a great book. She also loved music, meditation and the outdoors, being particularly fond of hiking, camping and the beach. Her smile was unforgettable and she had the best sense of humor.

Mary went on to earn her Master’s Degree and was always continuing her studies. She had a passion for holistic healing and became a Reiki master. She loved speaking with others about how they could improve their lives and their health, while continuing to learn herself.

Mary was the daughter of the late John W. Breen Sr. and Helen A. Fahey Breen. Mary leaves her son, Glen Arendt, his wife Megan and grandchildren, Jack and Lillian Arendt as well as her daughter, Kimberly Clark, her husband Jason and grandchildren, Jessica and Jordan Clark.

She also leaves her siblings John W. Breen, Jr. and wife Sue Karen; Patricia A. Jasniewicz; Michael D. Breen and wife Maureen; Ellen M. Eichamer and husband David; Judith Breen Philbin and husband Bill; and Joseph E. Breen and wife Renee; along with dear cousins, nephews, nieces, grand nephews and nieces as well as lifelong friends. Mary is predeceased by her sisters, Irmine Martha McDonald; and Janet Breen.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held August 19, 2024 at 10AM at St. Bernard Church located at 25 St. Bernard Terrace in Rockville, CT.  Reception to follow.
