Lorraine Andree (Dumais) Lowinski

WESTFIELD-Lorraine Andree Lowinski (nee Dumais) passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2020, at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, MA.  At the time of her passing, Lorraine was surrounded by her devoted children. 

Lorraine was born on April 12, 1962, in Sept-lles, Quebec, Canada to Andree A. Dumais and Margaret D. (Huard) Dumais.

Lorraine graduated from Gateway Regional High School class of 1981.

Lorraine worked in Support Services for Multicultural Community Services of Springfield and Westfield.  She assisted in providing support services to enhance the day to day lives of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families throughout the Pioneer Valley.  Lorraine also provided foster services to our community.  She treated those that she helped as if they were her own family and developed many personal bonds over the years.  

Lorraine was incredibly strong-willed and stubborn, a characteristic many will fondly remember her for.  In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and crocheting and kayaking with her family. 

Lorraine’s most prestigious achievement is holding the honor as an amazing mother who raised 5 beautiful children and being remembered as the best grandmother ever!

Lorraine is predeceased by her parents Andree and Margaret Dumais.

Survivors include her sons Steven Lowinski of Westfield, MA  and Scott Lowinski of Chester, MA, her daughters Lindsey Lowinski of Hallendale, FL, Katherine Meczywor of Westfield, MA, and Aimee’ Meczywor of Westfield, MA, her sister Marie-Anne Buffam (Jerry) of Westfield, MA, Doris Chrzanowski (Tom) of Agawam, MA, Joyce Corey (Wayne) of West Springfield, MA, Linda Peart (Allan) of Southampton, MA, Catherine Fattorini (Peter) of Westfield, MA, and Nancy Mallard (Lenny) of Leominster, MA, her granddaughter Addisen Clegg, her best friend Mary Pouliot of Westfield, MA who was always by her side, along with many other family members and friends.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 24, 2020, at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 30 Bartlett St, Westfield, MA 01085.   A private burial will be held at Middle Farms Cemetery, Westfield, MA in the Spring. 

All are invited to attend a memorial gathering at Westwood Restaurant and Pub, 94 N. Elm St, Westfield, MA at 6:00  PM Monday, February 24, 2020.  Hors d’oeuvres will be served as family and friends celebrate Lorraine’s life and legacy.
