HAMPDEN-Lewis Peter Caron, Jr., The Best of the Best, passed away peacefully on Saturday March 11, 2017 at Evergreen Health Care Center in Stafford, CT.  Lewis was born on June 02, 1935 in New London, CT to the late Lewis and Eva (Charbonneau) Caron. Mr. Caron had 35 years of service with Gerber Garment Technology, Inc. ending his career as a Risk Management Analysis with Gerber Scientific Instruments.   A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Sergeant Caron proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict receiving the National Defense Service Medal for his dedication and bravery.    A quiet and gentle man, he opened his arms and heart to all in need.  The kitchen was his kingdom and Lewis was passionate about sharing his love of cooking with family and friends.  Lewis and his wife Barbara shared a love of the ocean and Cape Cod where they maintained a summer home in Brewster, MA.  His love of fishing was perfected from his boat, The PapaLew-this is where he was most happy, sailing around Cape Cod Bay.  Family and friends will remember Lewis as a nonjudgmental soul who would always hold his tongue and keep his thoughts to himself.  A staunch New York Yankees fan was never an easy feat for Lewis, especially being a true New Englander with family and friends always dedicated to their Patriots.  Lewis and his wife are members of Bethany Charismatic Catholic Church in Brimfield, MA where he served on the Board of Directors.  Predeceased by his parents and his brother Ronald Caron, he leaves his wife Barbara Caron of Hampden, MA, daughters: Leslie Limmer and Julie Compston of Florida and Karen Ricci of Ashford, CT; sons: Scott Jones and his wife Sharon of Springfield, MA, Keith Jones and his wife Melanie of Springfield, MA and Gary Jones and his wife Janine of East Longmeadow, MA; 19 grandchildren and their spouses; 21 great-grandchildren and their spouses, many nieces, nephews and friends.   From the bottom of their hearts, the Caron family would like to thank Dr. Dushyant Parikh and Kelly, the staff of Johnson Memorial Hospital and Evergreen Rehabilitation Center and the staff of Home & Community Health Services of Enfield.  In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in honor of Mr. Caron to Bethany Charismatic Catholic Church, PO Box 607, Palmer, MA 01069.

A Celebration of his Life will be at 10AM on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Bethany Charismatic Catholic Church, 167 Dunhamtown-Palmer Rd., Brimfield, MA.  Avalon Life Celebration Center & Cremation Services, LLC 691 College Hwy., Southwick, MA has been entrusted with the arrangements.  To express a condolence please visit Lewis’s memorial page at www.avaloncelebrations.com
