LINDA JOY (CORDERIA) MARSAN

September 14, 1941 ~ December 3, 2021 (age 80)

Obituary

WEST SPRINGFIELD – Linda Joy Marsan, 80, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA.

Linda was born on September 14, 1941, in Hartford, CT to the late Joseph C Cordeira and Geraldine (Knickerbocker) Cordeira.

Linda’s greatest passion and accomplishment is her daughter, Gina.  Linda worked her early years in retail before turning her attention to raising her daughter and volunteering at Gina’s schools. She also spent many years caring for Amanda, who was like a second daughter to her. Amanda, now with a family of her own, still affectionately refers to Linda as Babysitter.

Linda enjoyed trips to the casino with her daughter and her sister Nancy, her multiple chats each day with Gina, and playing games on Facebook.  Linda also enjoyed watching her favorite TV show NCIS.  For years Linda, her family, and her friends joked that she would die during an episode of Days of Our Lives……..this joke came to fruition just as the famous voice spoke “We will  return for the second half of Days of Our Lives in just a moment.”  Linda loved spending time with her grand-dogs and feeding the squirrels outside her apartment.  Some would say the squirrels got so fat they looked like rabbits.

Linda is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Geraldine Cordeira and her brothers: Joseph Cordeira, Jim Cordeira, and Marty Cordeira.

Survivors include her daughter Gina Marsan and her partner Michael Thompson of Ludlow, MA. Gina’s dear friends, who are more like family and surrogate daughters to Linda. She also leaves her brothers: Ricky Cordeira, Donald Cordeira, and Robert Cordeira, her sisters: Nancy Forkey, Sally Weskosky, and Geraldine Schools, along with many nieces and nephews.
