Gladys R. LaBarus

GREAT BARRINGTON-Gladys R. LaBarus, 77, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2019.  Gladys was born in Norfolk, Nebraska on March 28, 1941, to the late Roman and Rosalind LaBarus.  Gladys graduated from Carnegie Mellon University earning a degree in Actuarial Science and had worked for many years in the insurance industry.  She had a lifelong passion for restoring older homes to their former glory. In her spare time, she enjoyed restoring antique motorcycles. She also spent countless hours building and restoring all types of wooden boats, many of which she captioned.  Gladys held a special place in her heart for all animals.  She was an avid donor to the SPCA and other charities created to make the lives of homeless animals better. Gladys leaves her life partner of 45 years Linda O'Doherty, her daughter Kathy Bush and her husband Richard of Omaha, Nebraska, her 2 grandchildren Jackson and Hayden Bush, along with other family members.  A private burial will be held in the family plot in Madison, Nebraska.  Avalon Life Celebration Center & Cremation Services, LLC 691 College Highway, Southwick, MA  Please visit www.avaloncelebrations.com
