Florence (Wray) Booth Obituary

SOUTHWICK- Florence M. “Wray” Booth, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2020, at her home in Southwick, MA.  At the time of her passing Wray was surrounded by those she loved the most, her cherished family.

Wray was born on September 11, 1929, in Heage, Derbyshire, England to the late Joseph J. Alton and Lucy (Briddon) Alton.

In 1966 Wray and Ken decided to emigrate from England to the USA. They settled in Westfield, MA.

After Ken’s retirement they moved to Vermont. After Ken’s passing, Wray decided to move to Southwick, MA to spend some wonderful years with her daughter Diane and Son- in-law Bruce Conklin. The family is forever grateful to them as she was able to enjoy her later years in happiness and comfort.

Wray enjoyed gardening, knitting, and bird-watching. She was an avid walker, enjoying daily walks in nature.

Wray was always so proud of her family.  She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  It was important to Wray to maintain a close relationship with her family and friends in England.  She enjoyed spending time looking at old photos of her family and friends. She stayed in constant communication writing exquisite letters.

Other than her parents, Wray is predeceased by her husband Kenneth J. Booth, her brothers Frank Alton and his wife Jesse, and Eric Alton, and her sister Joyce Key and her husband Ernest.

She leaves her daughters: Diane Conklin and her husband Bruce of Southwick, MA, and Hilary Chamberlin of Westfield, MA, her sons: Kenneth Neil Booth and his wife Andrea of Langdon, NH, Richard Booth and his wife Laurie of South Hadley, MA, Ian Booth and his wife Lisa of Agawam, MA, and Michael Booth and his wife Alicia of Westfield, MA, her 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, along with other family members and friends.
