HOLYOKE-Dr. Liborio Anthony Grilli, 92, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2016 at the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke, MA. Dr. Grilli was born on September 13, 1923 in Yonkers, NY to the late Mario and Carmella Grilli. Liborio proudly server his country in the 44th Infantry United States Army during WW II as a Medical Aidman. He bravely participated in the Northern France, Rhineland and Central European Campaigns. His dedication and sacrifices to his country earned him a Purple Heart, World War II Victory Ribbon, Bronze Star Medal, European, African and Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbons with 3 Bronze Stars, Combat Medical Badge and a Good Conduct Medal. After his service Liborio returned to the United States attending the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine where he earned a Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Dr. Grilli was predecease by his wife, Mary Grilli, a son, Richard Grilli and a brother Luigi Grilli. He leaves his son Robert Grilli and his wife Ann of Hadley, MA, grandchildren, Elizabeth Colton and her husband David of Westhampton, MA and Joseph Grilli also of Westhampton, MA and his great grand-daughter Isabella Colton of Westhampton, MA. A Veterans’ Honor Ceremony was held on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 1PM at the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke, MA.
