DOROTHY DENISE (DEGRAY) SZUBA

WESTFIELD – Dorothy Denise (DeGray) Szuba, 85, of Westfield, MA, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2020, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. 

On December 14, 1934, Dorothy was born in Springfield, MA, to Earl DeGray and Ina (Oman) DeGray. 

Dorothy graduated from Commerce High School class of 1951. 

Dorothy married Edward F. Szuba in 1953. Dorothy and Edward raised four daughters on their family homestead in Westfield, MA. 

Dorothy was a devoted mother, wife, and homemaker. Dorothy was a talented artist, winning awards for her artwork. She enjoyed traveling, art museums and instilled a love of music and nature in her daughters.   

Dorothy is predeceased by her parents Earl and Ina DeGray, her brother Bob DeGray, sisters Millie Chadderton and Mickey Harrison, her son-in-law Orrin McFarland, and her son-in-law Sherial Brinn. 

Dorothy leaves her husband of 67 years Edward Szuba of Westfield, MA, her daughters: Jeanne McFarland of Wallingford, CT; Carol Eure and her husband Edward of Reno, NV; Donna Szuba of Westfield, MA; and Nancy Brinn of Summerville, SC; her brother Frank DeGray (deceased November 15, 2020) and his wife Marge of Ellington, CT; her sister Theresa Theriault of East Longmeadow, MA; her grandchildren: Christen Eure, Amy Tomlinson and her husband (Gavin), Keith Cohen and his wife (Allie), and Michael McFarland, her great-grandchildren Emma and Jade, along with many other family members and friends.  

There are no calling hours or public services. A private burial will take place at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA.
