Claire Evelyn (Pulvirenti) Schelb

SPRINGFIELD-Claire Schelb, 102, peacefully passed on the morning of Thursday, December 08, 2016 at Wingate at Springfield in Springfield, MA.  Born on November 27, 1914 in Springfield, MA Claire retired from Smith & Wesson in 1976.  She dedicated her life to being a homemaker although in her spare time did enjoy sewing and Ballroom danced well into her 80’s.  Claire never drove a car, most will remember her for walking all around East Longmeadow to shop at her favorite stores and to visit friends.  Who knows, maybe all that walking contributed to her long life.  She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Parish in East Longmeadow, MA.  Predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Eva Pulvirenti, her husband, Justus J. Schelb, her son, Justus R. Schelb, her brother, Vincent Pulvirenti and her twin sister, Marie Collette, she leaves her son, Roger Schelb of West Springfield, MA, daughters, Barbara Fenney of East Longmeadow, MA and Mary Manarite of Springfield, MA, 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.  A funeral mass will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 10AM at St. Michael’s Parish,  128 Maple St., East Longmeadow, MA followed by burial at St. Michael’s Cemetery Springfield, MA.  Arrangements entrusted to Avalon Life Celebration Center & Cremation Services, LLC, 691 College Hwy., Southwick, MA 01077.   Please visit Claire’s memorial page at www.avaloncelebrations.com
