Bruce Whyatt Thompson, Sr.

SUNDERLAND-Bruce Whyatt Thompson, Sr., 77, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2018 at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, MA. 

Bruce was born on April 05, 1940 in Worcester, MA to Phillip and Gladys (Whyatt) Thompson.  As a younger man, Bruce enjoyed track and field. He had worked for many years for the USDA National Resources Conservation Services as a State Soil Scientist.  Bruce enjoyed golf and was a member of the Amherst Golf Club.  In his spare time, he also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and coaching little league.  He was an avid Bruins and Red Sox fan. 

Predeceased by his parents and his first wife Linda (Smith) Thompson, he leaves his partner of 10 years Susan Wright of Sunderland, MA, his sons Bruce Thompson, Jr.,  and his wife Karla and their son, Whyatt of MO and Larry Thompson and his wife Dawn and their children: Jessica Robinett, Sarah Denny, Tyler Thompson, Zachary Fischer, Kayla Fischer and Alexis Sidebottom of MO, his daughter Mary-Beth Vise and her husband David of NM, his brother Ronald Thompson and his wife Terry of MA, his sister Sandra Morse and her husband Richard of MA, 6 Great grandchildren, along with many other family members and friends. 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Feb 24, 2018 at First Congregational Church of Sunderland, 91 South Main Street.
