WORTHINGTON-Richard Eugene Phillips, 65, passed away Monday, September 24, 2018, at his home in Worthington, MA after a courageous 8-year battle with cancer.   Richard was surrounded by his devoted wife and loving family at the time of his death.

He was born on June 17, 1953, in Port Huron, Michigan to William Dalton Phillips and Rosetta Lovedall Phillips.  He proudly served his county in the United States Army. He had worked as a janitor for Applebee’s Restaurant in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and for many years owned and operated his own janitorial cleaning company.

Richard will be remembered as a good friend to many and all.  From a helping car ride, to simply being there to help a friend with a project around the house or to help in making small repairs, he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.  He was an all-around good person and was good to everyone.  In his spare time, Richard enjoyed collecting coins and baseball cards.  His prized possessions were his restored slot machines which he enjoyed playing with his wife, children, and friends.

Predeceased by his parents William and Rosetta Phillips and his brother Gary Phillips, he leaves his wife Kathy (Sawyer) Phillips of Worthington, Massachusetts, his son Rick Phillips and his wife April of Tennessee, his daughters April Phillips and her partner William Cooper of Worthington, Massachusetts and Jessica Phillips and her partner Daniel Hooker of Connecticut, and daughter Diane DeLeon and her husband Steve of Texas, his brother Thomas Phillips and his wife Susan of Michigan, his sisters Ramona Leach and her husband Brian of Michigan and Diane Lauren and her husband Michael of Michigan, his 10 grandchildren, his sister-in-law Sarah Phillips of Michigan, along with many other family members and friends.  There will be no local services.  To honor his wish, Richard will be cremated, and burial will be held at a later date in Flint Memorial Park in Flint, Michigan.
