Richard C. Brown

Mr. Richard C. Brown, 59, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA after a 7-year battle.  Richard was born on March 26, 1959, in Ft. Belvoir, Virginia to Rod Brown and Betty (Shaw) Brown.  He had worked as a facility manager at Lego, Evergreen Solar, and most recently at the Tantasqua & Union 61 School District in Sturbridge, MA. Richard enjoyed volunteering many hours to the local chapters of the  American Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity.  Many will remember Richard as “A Very Good Man”, he was always ready and willing to help friends and family with any projects.  Richard was always helpful, especially during snow storms, he enjoyed cleaning neighbor’s sidewalks.  He was always willing to lend a helpful hand.  His profound sense of humor will be missed by his wife of 8 years Dawn Brown of Palmer, MA, his parents Rod and Betty Brown of Springfield, MA,  his son Brian R. Brown of Wilbraham, MA, his step-daughter Makala S. Yarkin of Ohio, his sisters: Linda Taylor and her predeceased husband Lance of Springfield, MA, Melissa Messier and her husband Michael of Freemont, CA, Susan Kuhns and her husband Michael of Suffield, CT, Theresa Bascom and her husband David of Rhode Island, and Robin Ashworth and her husband Peter of Springfield, MA; his granddaughter Abigail Yarkin Jones of Ohio, along with many other family members, close friends and his church family at Pioneer Valley Baptist Chapel.  The Brown family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Wingate Wilbraham, Kindred Country Estates, Holden Rehabilitation, Baystate Medical Center, UMass Memorial Medical Center and St. Vincent Hospital for the compassion and care provided over the past 7 years.  A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Pioneer Valley Baptist Chapel, 56 Perkins St., Chicopee, MA 01013  A reception with lite refreshments will follow at the church.
