Brenda Clendenin Obituary

SOUTHWICK-Brenda (Ehrgood) Clendenin, 60, of Southwick passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Vibra Hospital of Western Massachusetts-Central Campus in Leicester, MA.

Brenda was born on March 17, 1958 in Westfield, MA to Donald and Marian (Guilford) Ehrgood.  She attended Gateway Regional School District in Huntington, MA. As the eldest child, Brenda took on the critical role of assisting her single mother in raising her five children.  In her younger years Brenda was an avid dancer, aspiring to attend dance school.  She later attended Asnuntuck Community College earning an Associates Degree.

Brenda had worked as an Executive Assistant and Manager of Accounts Payable at AB Massa Paper Corporation in Suffield, CT for 14 years.

She enjoyed volunteering at Little Red school house Day Care in Southwick, MA and had worked on the Summer Reading Program for Southwick students.  Brenda loved to laugh, a trait many will remember her by.  She was a dedicated Patriots fan, loved to dance, enjoyed Country Music, attending many concerts, spontaneous road trips, and summer nights at the “beach” fishing with her grandchildren.  Brenda liked to socialize with neighbors and friends, she would often take a walk around the neighborhood just to say “Hi”, have a “cold one” and strike up a conversation, always making sure she was home for Jeopardy.

Thanksgiving and Christmas were always a memorable and lively time of the year for Brenda.  Each year her grandchildren looked forward to “Pie Day”, a Pre-Thanksgiving evening of baking pies and having fun in the kitchen with “Amma”.  The festivities continued through the Christmas Season starting with Advent calendars, helping all the grandkids decorate their Christmas Stockings each new year while listening to “ I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” and ending with a new ornament for the tree that she found best suitable for each grandchild each and every year.  These traditions will provide a lifetime of joyous memories for her grandchildren, a tradition that will now be carried on by her family.

She is predeceased by her father Donald Ehrgood, her mother Marian (Guilford) Balboni, and her step-father Albert Balboni.

Survivors include her soul mate Alan Baum of Southwick, MA,  her son Eric Clendenin of Granville, MA, her daughter Heather Bower of West Suffield, CT and their father Mark Clendenin, 2 sisters: Donna Deschenes and her husband Paul of Indian Orchard, MA, and Misty Martinek and her husband Justin of Enfield, CT, 3 brothers: Gary Ehrgood of North Carolina, Michael Balboni and his wife Jodi of Granby, CT, and Russell Balboni and his wife Aggie of Stafford Springs, CT, she was the Amma to her 5 grandchildren: Cally Clendenin, Brayden Winch and their mother Tabatha Winch, Taylor Daniels, Riley Daniels, Benjamin Rivera and Lyla Lever, her step-daughter Julie Baum of Windsor Locks, CT, along with several nieces, nephews, and other family members.
