SOUTHWICK-Clare Claypoole, 79, passed away Friday, February 02, 2018 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA after a brief illness.
Clare was born on September 28, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York. She attended St. Catherine’s Nursing School in Queens, New York where she earned her Registered Nurse license and dedicated many years of her life caring for others.
Family was always Clare’s number one priority and spending time with them made her the happiest. Many found memories were made gathered around the camp fires at Dellwood Acres Camp Ground in Pennsylvania, where Clare and her family would gather for their yearly camping trips. In her spare time she enjoyed shopping, going to tag sales, and was always on the lookout for a great bargain. Although a kind, loving, and gentle soul Clare would always speak her mind. From how to cook the Thanksgiving turkey, when to complete a project around the house, or when it was time for dinner, she would always let you know her thoughts or at least give you some advice on how to do it. After retirement she enjoyed time in Florida as a snow bird, enjoying the beach and warm weather with Karen and Ed and Ginny and Fred.
Predeceased by her parents Bruno and Agnes (Connelie) Waas, her first husband and father of her children William Engle, her second husband Donald Claypoole, her daughter Diane Botticello, and her brothers-in-law Frank Magrone and Paul Boulad, sister in law Maryjo Waas, she leaves her sons, Peter Engle and his wife Julie of Levittown, NY, Paul Engle and his wife Gina of Massapequa Park, NY, her daughters: Deborah Drzewiecki and her husband Dean of Granville, MA, Dawn Rooney and her husband Brendan of Chester, NY, Cheryl Claypoole and her husband Rich Valintine of Copiague, NY, and Laura Albert and her husband Doug of Lindenhurst, NY; her brothers: Paul Waas and his wife Gretchen of Buffalo, NY, Gerry Waas of Amityville, NY, and Neil Waas of Southwick, MA; her sister Doris Margone of Naple, FL, her 10 grandchildren: Peter, Caitlin, Brendan, Matthew, PJ, Nicole, Bridget, Melissa, Megan and Allison; her son-in-law Bill Botticello of Southwick, MA, her sister-in-law Judy Boulad of Novato, CA, her niece Karen Artman, whom she thought of as a daughter and her husband Ed, along with many other family members and friends.
